Will Internet Marketing Improve Your Emotional Well Being As A Senior
Internet Marketing for Seniors – Will it Improve Your Emotional Well Being?
It’s a common misconception that trying to start a business online is all about money. Very often, money is just one of the goals. The real reason most people want to make money online is – FREEDOM.
To not have a boss, to not have a commute, to not have financial problems, to be able to do what you want when you want without having to ask anyone permission to take a day off – these are the benefits of a successful online business, and they’re priceless!
But what about seniors?
Most are retired and don’t face the common problems that those in the rat race do. Does internet marketing benefit them in any other way?
You bet it does… and let’s see how.
- Reduces financial stress
Here’s the hard truth – without money, life can get very stressful. Bills need to be paid. You children may need financial assistance. You might have a health issue that’s expensive to treat.
While money may not be all that important to you, a lack of it can cause a lot of financial stress. Most seniors don’t really have a goal of driving a Ferrari or living in a beachfront mansion.
What they want is peace of mind to go about their lives. When faced with bills that are piling up, this idyllic lifestyle is impossible. Being able to make money online will help most seniors to pay off their bills and will greatly reduce their stress.
This is one of the biggest benefits of online marketing for seniors. Nobody was born to pay bills and die. The profits from your online business will eliminate your financial worries and leave you with enough money to live comfortably.
- Prevents boredom
Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
This is a fantastic quote. Every senior should strive to keep learning and improving. Quitting the learning process is a surefire recipe for boredom and a stagnant life.
When you get into online marketing, there is a learning curve. You’ll need to understand a lot of new concepts and processes. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to test and tweak your methods and see which works best for you.
This entire process will be challenging and fun. It will be trying at times, but when you succeed, it will be exhilarating too. Whatever the case may be, it will NOT be boring.
Gone are the days when being a senior meant rocking back and forth on a chair with a cat on your lap while you knitted socks… or reading a newspaper while pretending to be deaf and mumbling to yourself so that you wouldn’t have to answer your wife.
These days, life moves at a faster pace. Online marketing will help you stay engaged with society and keep your mind young.
- Allows for socializing
Marketing online will introduce you to new people from all over the world. You’re not constrained to a small social circle where your only conversations are with your cantankerous neighbor about his bed sores.
No… internet marketing allows you to communicate with people who are interested in the same things as you. You’ll be able to share tips with people in your niche, exchange ideas will fellow marketers in your space and so on.
You could have friends on the other side of the globe… and you can have a conversation with them online in real-time. Your social circle has expanded exponentially. Being a senior citizen doesn’t mean that you need to live a solitary and lonely lifestyle.
- Gives you a sense of accomplishment
To conclude, internet marketing will give you a sense of accomplishment and purpose when you succeed. It will show you that while you may be old, you still have what it takes to succeed.
This sense of accomplishment will leave you feeling refreshed, confident, motivated and purposeful. You’re never too old to succeed and be happy.

The Most IMPORTANT Tool Every Senior Needs to Build a Business Online!
Even if you’re a beginner to online marketing, there is one tool that you absolutely must get. It will be a monthly recurring charge, but it’s crucial to building your business.
When you are getting started, your initial goal will be to generate an income online while keeping your costs as low as possible. You may be among the many seniors who have a tight budget and you will not want more bills.
This tool does usually come with a recurring bill… and even if you’re not making any money online yet, you still need it. If you’re wondering what the tool is, it’s called an autoresponder.
What is an autoresponder?
An autoresponder is a script that allows people to add their emails and join your list. You may allow people who visit your site to download a gift if they provide their email address.
With an autoresponder, you can set it up so that a message will go out the moment someone subscribes. It all works on automation.
You can also add emails into your autoresponder sequence to go out at a scheduled time. Maybe daily or once every two days. The frequency is decided by you.
Different autoresponders have different features ranging from simple to complex. Some of the most popular ones are AWeber, MailChimp, Contant Contact, and GetResponse. There are many others like, as well. ConvertKit, InfusionSoft, Sendblue, Vertical Response, and so on.
Why do you need one?
The most obvious reason would be that you need to build a list of subscribers. Having a list of subscribers will allow you to generate profits daily. You can send an email that promotes certain products, the people on your list may buy those products and, if they do, you make sales or earn commissions.
If you do not have a list, you will be missing out on having an asset that you could tap into for cash. You’ll be letting visitors to your sites/videos/etc. slip through your fingers never to be seen again. You need an autoresponder to get at least some of them on to your list.
If you want to know more about email marketing, check out the Email Marketing Expertise Training Guide at Marketing Basics Academy. You may also want to take a look at the list building resources training available there.
How will it help you?
An autoresponder will help you stay in touch with the people who are interested in the topic and products you promote. Everyone who signed up to be on your list will be interested in what you have to say.
You’ll be able to provide value, deliver information, keep them updated on the latest products and so on. You can contact the entire list of people with just one broadcast email.
The bigger your list, the more people you can reach and the more sales you’ll make.
When should you get an autoresponder?
Ideally, you should get an autoresponder the moment your website is set up. There’s no need to get one before your site is set up. You would be wasting your money paying a fee when you couldn’t install the signup forms on your site.
So, build your site first. Get the download pages and other pages all set up before you sign up for the autoresponder plan. Then, once you get your pages set up, you can get and autoresponder and install a form on your site. You’ll be ready for people to sign up on your email list.
Now it will be just a matter of driving traffic to your site and encouraging people to join your list.
What if you can’t afford one now?
If your finances are tight right now, and you feel like you can’t afford an autoresponder, you can get started with a free version of one of them. Most of the autoresponder companies have a free version for the very purpose of helping people get started and try out their product.
Another possibility is that you could do freelance work online for a while till you’ve put aside enough funds to pay for about 4 months of an autoresponder service. This shouldn’t come up to more than $80.
Once you have the money, you can build your site, get the autoresponder and install it. In four months, you should be able to build a list that gets enough sales to cover the cost of your autoresponder.
There also are self-hosted autoresponders where you don’t have to pay a monthly fee. However, you do have to purchase them for a one-time payment and the software needs to be installed. Some technical knowledge is required, and many seniors just may not be net-savvy to the point where they can install one proficiently. If you can do that, this may be another option for you.
Another factor is that the autoresponders that require a monthly payment tend to have higher deliverability rates and better open rates. These are important factors that will have a big impact on how much money you can make with your email list.
Whatever the case may be, if you’re building a business online, you need an autoresponder. Do get one and build your list and fortune.
One of the best sources of information that I know of about how to use autoresponders is the course Email Autoresponder Magic by David Perdew at NAMS (Novice to Advanced Marketing System). Look here for information about it.
Is Ecommerce a Viable Business Model for Seniors
In this article, we’ll consider whether or not it is a good idea to start an online business in “ecommerce,” such as with Shopify stores or WooCommerce stores, where you can sell products such as t-shirts, hats, mugs, key tags, gifts, etc.
Very often, these stores are advertised using Facebook advertising and other types of paid advertising. While the ecommerce business model can be highly lucrative, with the successful sellers raking in thousands in a day, the crucial question is – Is it suitable for seniors?
To answer this question, we’ll need to ask ourselves 5 other questions.
What’s your budget like?
The ecommerce model is a ‘cash heavy’ one. While it doesn’t require massive cash outlays, it does require you to spend money testing ads.
Sometimes you will hear people who are trying to sell ecommerce models telling you that you could make tons of profit investing only $5.
This is not entirely true. In fact, hundreds of dollars are usually spent to discover a winning product or an ad that converts. That’s just how it is. You recoup your losses only when you discover a product that sells well.
While this may not be that big a deal to someone who is working and has a steady income, most seniors are out of the workforce and living on limited funds. It is vital to evaluate your budget and finances before trying ecommerce out.
If you have money to spare, you could give it a go. However, if cash is tight and you’re coming online in the hopes of making a few dollars to alleviate your financial problems, ecommerce is NOT for you.
Are you interested in it?
Ultimately, you’ll need to constantly test and tweak your ads. You’ll spend hours analyzing your stats.
You’ll also need to look for new products to sell. You’ll either be getting new designs done or be designing them yourself for print on demand companies.
There probably will be returns and other customer issues to deal with. If you follow the drop shipping model, you’ll have to search for reliable suppliers, etc. There are many moving parts in this business model.
It may all seem too complicated to most seniors who are new to online marketing. Generally, you’d be better off starting off with simpler business models such as freelancing, niche websites, affiliate marketing, product creation and so on.
Once you’re making good money with these, you can use some of those profits to go into ecommerce and diversify your online portfolio.
In short, ecommerce is risky, requires cash… and requires a lot of time and effort.
How much time (and energy) do you have?
Seniors generally have much more time on their hands since they’ve left the workforce. Unfortunately, one of the many ironies of life is that now they have the time, but not as much energy – and they get tired easily.
Ecommerce requires you to spend time analyzing your ads, conversions, etc. You’re always on the clock because money is being spent on ads. You can’t afford to take a day or two break which could lead to money being lost due to underperforming ads.
So, knowing how much time and energy you have to invest in this business model is something to take note of too.
Have you made money online with other methods?
Ideally, you should only embark on an ecommerce model after you’ve given the other online marketing methods a try. With ecommerce, you’ll need to know how to build a store. You’ll need some idea of how to do good copywriting to make your product listings look good.
Then we have Facebook pages and ads. So, you need an understanding of social media. SEO is also important so that you can generate organic traffic.
By now you’ll realize that ecommerce requires knowledge and skills that are gained from knowing the other online marketing methods. It’s best to start off with those first before you plunge into ecommerce.
That pretty much sums it up – start with ecommerce only when you’re truly ready.
Retired and Want to Make Money Online? – Freelancing May Be the Answer!
One of the biggest obstacles that most seniors face when getting started online is having to change their mindset. Most people are so used to working a day job and reporting to a boss that the idea of being their own boss seems foreign to them.
The idea that one can create and sell their own products online seems daunting. Affiliate marketing is baffling. Posting videos for others to watch seems intimidating.
All these fears are normal. The key to overcoming them is to go ahead and do what you need to do despite being worried or scared. However, for some seniors, taking this kind of action is a formidable task.
For these seniors, freelancing online may be the BEST way to get their feet wet. Offering your services online is just like a day job. You’re getting paid for your time and work. Many seniors can more easily wrap their heads around this idea.
Once they’ve earned several thousand dollars through freelancing, they’ll realize that making money online is not a scam. It is a legitimate and often very rewarding way to generate an income.
Freelancing can be a ‘gateway’ business model before tackling other aspects of marketing such as product creation, affiliate marketing, etc. Let’s look at why freelancing is so effective at generating an income for seniors.
Monetize your existing skills
Many seniors have skills that they can offer online. If you love to read, you can be a proofreader for online writers. If you love to write, you could be a ghostwriter.
If you are artistic, you could do graphic design jobs. Of course, you would have to know (or learn) how to use software like Photoshop, but once you learn that, you could hone your artistic skills can create beautiful graphics for others.
Seniors with good voices could do voiceovers. Those who were leaders in their industry or company could offer consulting services, and so on. The point here is that your skills should not go to waste after retirement. You can save time by monetizing them and making money quickly online.
Leverage popular platforms
Many freelance marketplaces like Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer, Guru, Peopleperhour.com, 99Designs, etc. are teeming with people looking for service providers.
Being a freelancer will allow you to leverage these platforms to get work easily. You’ll need to sell yourself a little so that potential clients hire you, but that is generally easier than building websites, driving your own traffic, etc.
Fastest way to earn online
As mentioned above, the popular freelance marketplaces have tons of existing traffic. You’ll get hired much more easily there and it’s one of the fastest ways to make money online.
If your work is good, over a short period of time you’ll get repeat customers, and the positive reviews will get you even more customers. You might get so popular that you receive an avalanche of orders and may need to either raise your prices or pause your gigs till you complete your outstanding work.
For many seniors, freelancing may be enough and they’ll be contented with working for others online. The more ambitious ones will benefit from the next point.
Use freelancing to bootstrap your online business
The money you earn from freelancing can be used to build your own online business too. You should not spend off all the money you make online. Reinvest some of it to build a passive online income too.
And, of course you can always hire other freelancers to do jobs for you. You could get one to set up a website for you. Then get another to write content for you and so on. By leveraging the efforts of others, you’ll be able to increase your output without working longer.
Of course, you’ll need to budget your spending, but if you do it right, you can build several web properties that generate a passive income while you carry on with your freelancing.
Your online income will grow exponentially, and when you have passive income coming in you may even quit your freelancing. You’ll be making money even if you don’t do jobs for others. That’s the beauty of passive income.
Continue to reinvest a portion of the passive income to build even more web properties and the possibilities are endless… but it all starts out by being a humble freelancer. Give it a try and progress at your own pace.
When you are ready to look into launching your own business, a good source of information and guidance is the NAMS course, Beyond 9 to 5. It will help you to have a rock-solid plan for successfully starting and building your business. More info here.
Do Seniors Need a Website to Build a Business Online
Do you need a website? The answer is – YES!
It’s not uncommon to come across cheap info products being sold online with the promise that you can have riches without having to build a website or do much work. I think that most of these claims are baseless and just hype to get you to part with your money.
Ironically, you may have noticed that these products are usually sold on websites. So, yes… if you want to build an online business, having a website is essential.
Even if you sell books on Kindle, you still need a website to have an author page, etc. Want to build a Shopify store? You need a website, too. Want to be a freelancer? A website will help to display your portfolio and tell potential clients about your services. There really is just no escaping this fact. You NEED a website.
In some cases where you’re selling products on platforms such as eBay, Etsy, etc. you may have to have a website. However, it’s still best that you build one to diversify your online income. Then, if you were to lose your account on these platforms, you would not be helpless.
So, let’s think about why it’s best for you to build your own website.
Websites Are Not That Hard to Build
In the past, you had to know HTML or be able to use complicated software like Dreamweaver, etc., to build and upload websites. These days, you can set up a blog in minutes.
All you need to do is install WordPress, upload a theme and you’re good to go and can start posting away. Once you understand how it works, you’ll be amazed at how easy it is.
Building a website is within the reach of most seniors. You don’t need much technical know-how and there are tools available that can really help to simplify things. (For example, NAMS has an excellent introductory course called Ultimate WordPress Profits, that will take anyone (with any level of experience) from knowing nothing about WordPress to getting your first website installed, designed and running securely.) There also is a lot of help available if you really can’t, or don’t want to, do it yourself.
Having Your Own Website Allows You to Constantly Deliver Valuable Content
When you have your own website, you can always add more content to it and offer value to others. Your followers will have a ‘hub’ where they can find you and learn from you.
For example, if you post videos of fishing tips on YouTube, you can have a website where you offer more tips, talk about the best rods, lures, etc. You have so much more freedom to offer content that doesn’t really fit in with videos and are better off as written content.
That is what I am trying to do with my blog – providing valuable information for people who are interested in how seniors can have an online business.
A Website Helps You to Build Authority
Having a website gives you a certain sense of authority in the marketplace. These days, almost every business has a website. If you wish to build a credible business that appears legitimate in the eyes of others, you absolutely MUST have a website.
Not having one will make you look like an amateur and you’ll lose trust and confidence. Even if you’re a beginner, having a website will help. You can make it look better as you go along… just start with a simple one in the beginning.
A Website Will Help You Get Leads
An important aspect of successfully doing business online is building a list of people who are interested in your type of products. Having a website allows you to build a such list. You can have pop ups and opt-in forms on your website for people to get freebies or join your newsletter. There are other ways for getting leads, but having a website can accelerate the process.
Having a Website Gives You More Opportunities to Sell
With a website you can promote a wide variety products related to your business. As mentioned in the fishing example above, you could promote fishing-related products such as rods, lures, etc. You could even be an affiliate for fishing charters and tours and get a commission whenever someone signs up. The possibilities are endless.
Obviously, the question is not whether you should have a website, or even whether you can afford to have a website. It really is whether you can afford NOT to have one.
This will be the start of your online empire, and where you go with it is limited only by your imagination… but it all starts with your first website.
There are several simple steps to building a website. You will need to buy a cool domain name, hook it up with your hosting, install WordPress and then you can start blogging away. The good news is that none of these tasks are difficult and there is plenty of help available if you need it. You can see a good discussion of the steps to build a website here.
How Seniors Can Eliminate Financial Problems with Online Marketing
Not surprisingly, some news reports have said that the senior population is the poorest demographic in many parts of the world. A big part of the problem is that since most seniors are no longer working, they often have to survive on their savings or a small pension.
While income has stopped for these seniors, their bills never stop. Health care costs, outstanding home loans, the ever-increasing prices of products, etc., can be a huge burden to many seniors.
The constant stress of having to pay bills and trying to stretch dollars can take a mental and emotional toll on you. The only way out of this vicious cycle is to have additional income even if you’re retired. But no one wants to employ you!
So, how do you get the extra income?
The answer, of course, is online marketing! It can be the solution to many seniors’ financial woes… once they learn how to do it and get it to working.
In this article we’ll look at why internet marketing is ideal for many seniors.
It Allows You to Earn an Income
To state the obvious, online marketing allows you to earn money online. You will not need to go for interviews and compete with younger candidates for jobs. You won’t be subject to the whims and fancies of an unreasonable boss.
You’ll not need to stand for hours and be exhausted, as many seniors do when they work at fast food outlets or supermarkets. Online marketing can help seniors to make a good living without tiring themselves out. It’s a fantastic way to go!
It Allows You to Build a Passive Income
One of the big differences between having a day job and having an online income is that you can make the online income passive. You can do the work once and then get paid over and over again, even if you are not there. If you have a few websites that get lots of traffic and sales, you could take a break for a week, or even for a month, and still see your earnings come in.
You can’t do that with a day job where you trade hours for dollars. Passive income is much easier to live with. It may take you a few months to get it all together and gain traction, but once you get the ball rolling, you’ll make money without always having to be present.
It Allows You to Multiply Your Efforts and Scale Up
When you have an online business, if you want to earn more, you can always do more of what you’re doing. If you own websites, you can build more. If you write books, you can release more books, maybe by hiring a ghostwriter to do some of the work for you.
Selling items in an ecommerce store? You can always find more cool items to sell and scale up and multiply your earnings.
This is not possible with a day job. If you want to earn more, what will you do? Ask for a raise? Get a second day job?
The first job alone may leave you feeling half-dead. The mere idea of a second day job may be unimaginable.
No! Day jobs are not really a feasible option. They could be used to fund your online business in the beginning, but once you’re making profits online, it will be time to ditch the day job and go all in on your online business.
It Allows You to Earn While You Sleep
This is one of the best things about online marketing. Even when you are sleeping, your web properties will be receiving visitors and making sales. You’ll be earning round the clock.
Your earnings will soar… and all those outstanding bills and financial worries will be a thing of the past.
Online marketing is the ideal business model for many seniors. The benefits are countless and there is very little downside. If you believe in yourself and are willing to learn the ropes, you can and will make money online and be successful.
The Most Important Quality Required for Seniors to Succeed Online
What Is The Most Important Quality Required for Seniors to Succeed Online?
If you’re short on time, the answer is… CONSISTENCY!
Consistency is, without a doubt, the most important quality than any senior or, for that matter, any entrepreneur needs to have to build a successful online business.
Maybe Rome wasn’t built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour. One of the biggest reasons most people fail at online marketing is because of a lack of consistency.
If you start a blog, you should aim for one or two blog posts a day… every day. If you’re making videos for YouTube, aim to make a video daily or every other day.
Whether you work on your business daily, or once every two or three days, it is important that you have a fixed schedule and stick to it. Consistent action creates consistent results.
Inch by Inch Life’s a Cinch
There’s an old saying, “Inch by inch, life’s a cinch. Yard by yard, life is hard.” This is especially true for seniors trying to find their footing online. It would be a huge task to learn it all in a day or even a month.
You’ll need to do a little each day. Today, learn how to buy a domain. The next day, learn how to point the nameservers to your hosting. The day after that, learn how to install WordPress… and a couple of days after that, make your first post.
Do it in baby steps. Your progress will be slow, but it will be sure progress. You’ll not discourage yourself by struggling to do too much.
What do you call this slow and steady approach?
You call it consistency. That’s what you call it.
Repetition is Mother of Skill
Anything you do over and over will become easier. The first website will always be the hardest to create. The first video (should you choose to make one) will be the most awkward to do. The first blog post you write will be the toughest.
That’s because it’s all new to you and you’re learning as you’re doing. Repetition is crucial for us to get better at what we do. Repetition leads to mastery… and you can only have repetition if you’re consistent.
Taking breaks that are too long will cause you to lose ground. Daily action even for short periods, is better than long hours of action that happens once every couple of months. Consistent action will make you more proficient in every skill you’re trying to master.
Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication
Initially, you should keep things simple. Try to be ‘good enough’ rather than to be “perfect.” Really, there is no such thing as perfection, and even excellence takes a long time to achieve.
Simplicity allows for repetition and consistency. If you take two weeks to create a fantastic video for you site, two weeks will be gone and you will have only one video. You’ll better off creating several videos that may not be excellent, but are good enough to watch.
You can spend 20 to 30 minutes a day working on that one ‘fantastic’ video… while at the same time consistently focusing on creating several other ‘good enough’ videos.
When you’re online, good content is king. The more content you have out there, the better. So, be consistent and put out good stuff. As you improve over time, creating excellent content will become much faster and easier. Start small and do a lot.
Always remember that what you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while. Be consistent and make measurable progress in reasonable time.
Seniors Beware!
Danger! Every Senior Who Tries to Start an Online Business Should Avoid This!
The idea of having a profitable online business is wonderful. You get to work from home, earn money while you sleep, work your own hours, have no boss, etc. It’s a dream lifestyle that’s perfect for seniors.
The good news is that this dream can become reality if you start marketing online. However, adopting a Pollyanna attitude and going in blindly can lead to a loss of money, time and energy.
This is a business model that can yield highly profitable results. At the same time, the industry is rife with scams, shady vendors and pitfalls that will trap you in a virtual quagmire if you don’t watch your step.
In this article, I’ll give you five tips that you should sear into your memory and recall often along the way. Thousands upon thousands of people have fallen victim to internet scams and the road to online marketing success is littered with the virtual corpses of the many who have tried and failed.
Don’t panic just yet. Keep reading and you’ll discover five very important points to note. They will keep you safe if you adhere to them.
Don’t Let Yourself Be Infected With Shiny Object Syndrome
Shiny object syndrome refers to a problem common among people in this industry where you keep buying one product after another, but never act on any of them.
Many times, they will be focusing on one course of action when they receive an email from a marketer telling them about the newest and fastest way to make money online that just came out.
People infected with “shiny object syndrome” will then neglect what they were doing and buy the new product… and they will be halfway through that when another email comes in about another brand-new method that they can use to easily and quickly makes thousands. They again stop what they were doing and buy the new “shiny object!” And this cycle repeats itself over and over…
Months, or even years, later they realize that they have spent thousands and gotten nowhere – maybe never made a cent online! This is the story for more than 90% of the people who try to start a business online. Do not be one of them!
Don’t Believe All the Hype
It’s not uncommon to come across products that claim to allow you to make $2,436.75 in 6 minutes without any work on your part. Almost all these products are pure rubbish that are designed just to get you to part with your money.
The statistics that are displayed on these snazzy sales pages are often questionable at best, and may be absolute lies at worst. NEVER, ever, believe the hype.
Many seniors tend to be more trusting and believe what they see online. This is one of the biggest mistakes that you could make. Unethical vendors have no qualms about lying on their sales pages just to get your money.
The internet has tons of these liars running loose. You MUST be smarter than them. Ignore the hype.
There certainly are many vendors who are honest, trustworthy, dependable, and who provide good products. Choose a proven online business model and stick to it. Find vendors you trust and stick with them. But, still, be careful not to let yourself buy things you don’t yet need.
It will probably take you a few months to get the ball rolling, and there will be quite a bit of work to do, but that’s what a REAL business demands.
Get Off Their Lists
If you do buy any of the rubbish products (and you probably will at some point), you’ll find yourself on the email list of marketers who send you multiple emails daily trying to sell you more products. You will probably get on some lists even without buying any of their products. And, once you get on the list the emails will not end.
In some cases, even when you do unsubscribe from their lists, you’ll find that they add you back on it. That’s how desperate they are. Some of them buy and share lists with each other.
If you’re receiving incessant emails from marketers who are trying to sell you everything under the sun, unsubscribe from their list. If you can’t seem to get off their list no matter what you do, mark their emails as spam and that will be the end of it.
Do NOT believe their ‘recommendations’ and buy what they’re promoting. Many seniors do not have money to burn. Save your money for your business and use the funds wisely.
You Make Money Only When You Sell
This is a simple concept that escapes many people. If you’re not selling online, you will NOT make money. You have to sell either products or services. If you’re an affiliate marketer, you’ll still be helping to sell other people’s products.
It doesn’t matter if you’re 10 years old or you’re 100 years old. This principle never changes. Sell more, buy less. Be a producer and not a consumer. That’s how you make your money online.
Buy What You Will Use and Use What You Buy
Finally, use what you buy. If you buy a WordPress plugin, use it. If you buy a marketing course, learn and apply it.
Don’t buy products for ‘future’ use just because they’re on a special deal now. Very often, the products will be forgotten, and you’d have moved on to something new.
These purchases will become little white elephants that are destined to roam around the virtual grasslands in your hard drive. Spend your money wisely.
Observe these five points and steer clear of the pitfalls at all cost. Your success and progress online will be much faster if you’re not impeded by the mistakes that trip up most beginners in this scene. Proceed cautiously.
Are You Too Old to Start a Profitable Online Business?
Are You Too Old to Start a Profitable Online Business?
Millions of seniors all over the world wish they could do more with their lives. They’re retired, the house is empty, and life is slowing down and becoming a cycle of mundane tasks and unfulfilling activities.
As human beings, we long for growth. Even seniors who wish for a quieter life, need mental stimulation and some worthy goal to pursue. This ‘chase’ keeps us alive and motivated.
While seniors don’t need to stress themselves, running the rat race like they did during their younger years, still having a race to run keeps us mentally active and emotionally occupied.
Seniors often have the misconception that they’re too old or that it’s too late to start an online business.
Actually, nothing could be further from the truth.
With age comes experience and the ability to make wise, calculated decisions. There are thousands of seniors who started out late in life and made millions of dollars in their later years.
Ray Kroc founded McDonalds when he was in his fifties. Harlan Sanders started KFC when he was 62. Michael Grottola, a business growth coach, started his successful consulting business at the age of 65.
It’s NEVER too late to start a profitable business.
Seniors Can Leverage Previous Experience
Depending on what work you did when you were younger, you can leverage your experience to start your own online business. If you used to be a nurse, you could have a health website that teaches first aid skills and you could earn commissions promoting first aid kits, etc.
If you were in customer service, you could set up a website offering courses on transforming the customer experience and taking one’s services to the next level.
Maybe you love fishing and you’ve been into it all your life. That is a wealth of experience just waiting to be tapped. A website that dispenses tips and advice on the best fishing spots, lures, bait, etc. could get tons of visitors and there are many kinds of products that you could promote for profit.
The possibilities are endless. Like they say, old is gold.
Only A Small Investment Is Required
Money is often a worry for seniors. Usually, seniors have little or no income because they’re no longer in the workforce. Living off a modest pension or contributions from your children who are now working adults can stifle your dreams of having a big business in the ‘real world.’
However, with $50 a month, you can potentially make thousands of dollars online. There is whole new world on the internet and billions are being spent online. You’re never too old to tap into this thriving market. You just need the know-how… and you can learn that in a couple of months!
You’re As Young Now As You Ever Will Be
This is the hard truth. We all are as young now as we’ll ever be. Tomorrow, you’ll be a day older. If you start today, in 6 months to a year, you could be making a decent income online.
If you don’t start because you feel like you’re too old… a year from now, you’ll just be a year older and you will not have achieved anything online. The time is going to pass anyway!
So, why not jump on the bandwagon and get cracking. Any senior who keeps an open mind and refuses to impose self-defeating limitations on themselves can progress by leaps and bounds.
A profitable online business is certainly within your reach… and you’re definitely young enough to reach it, no matter how old you think you are. Get started right now.
SeniorsWorkAtHome.com was started with two main goals – (1) at age 79, the founder, I (Larry Roach) wanted to build a business to supplement my retirement income and (2) I really wanted to help other seniors to be able to build a business of their own.

5 Reasons Why Building An Online Business Is Perfect For Seniors
5 Reasons Why Building An Online Business is Perfect for Seniors
With the advent of the internet, opportunities have multiplied for people of all ages to earn a living, even potentially to become millionaires. It really is a new world in many respects. In the past, with brick and mortar businesses, you were not constrained by considerable capital or manpower requirements. But now, it’s relatively easy to start an online business.
It may seem unbelievable to many seniors that they can build a profitable online business even if they’re well into their sixties, seventies, and above. However, anyone who is willing to learn and take consistent action will see positive results.
It certainly is possible, however. Lets take a look at 5 reasons why online marketing is ideal for seniors.
You Can Work On Your Own Time
It goes without saying that as we age, we have less energy than when we were younger. Some of us seniors like to take a nap during the day… or we may like to do some gardening, or some reading, in the morning, etc.
Working at a regular day job will certainly not allow you the freedom to do whatever you want, when you want. You’ll be restricted by the rules of the company that you’re working for.
When you have an online business, though, you’re your own boss. You can work when you want and rest when you want. Nobody tells you what to do.
This gives seniors the freedom to live and earn an income that suits their energy levels and temperament.
The Required Capital Outlay Is Low
If you’re retired, you may be living on a pension or on the savings you’ve been able to accumulate. Starting a conventional business would require a huge investment of capital… and it certainly would not be wise to risk our life savings on a business that has no guaranteed return.
Online marketing, however, comes with very low start-up costs. It only costs about $12 to buy a website domain, and about $15 a month to host your site. In fact, for just $50 a month, it is possible that you could build an online business that makes thousands of dollars.
You can then reinvest your some of your profits and scale up if you choose.
It Is Not Physically Demanding
Working at a regular day job can be very physically and emotionally demanding. These days, as more seniors face financial difficulties, many of them are re-entering the work force, working in fast food outlets, etc..
The wages for the jobs available to seniors are generally low, and the work is mundane and often exhausting. An online business will allow you to earn much more and you’ll not need to be on your feet for hours serving people and putting up with nasty customers.
You’ve worked hard your entire life. In your golden years, you’re better off with an online business that is not strenuous or a soul-draining experience.
Your Experience Is A Tremendous Asset
With an online business, you can always tap in on your experience. If you worked as an English teacher, for example, you could freelance online as a proof reader or an article writer.
If you were good with graphics, you could perhaps design graphics, etc. Worked in customer service? You could be a virtual assistant for someone online.
The possibilities are endless – from freelancing to selling your own products based on your personal experience.
Once You Get It Going, It’s Relatively Easy to Scale Up
If you have a brick and mortar store, scaling up usually means expanding and opening up new stores. Once again, massive capital is required, and it’s an immensely challenging process.
Scaling up is much easier when you have an online business. Making money selling a Kindle book on Amazon? Write 5 more books and you’ll increase your earnings in proportion.
Have a website that’s getting visitors and sales? Great! Advertise so you will have more visitors, or set up another website and earn more.
It’s so much easier. You can always hire someone to write for you, build websites like yours, etc. Reinvesting a portion of your earnings to outsource certain tasks will speed up your progress and scale your business rapidly… and you can do it all for a minute fraction of the cost of a conventional business.
By now, you’ll see just how ideal online marketing can be for seniors. Get started today and in a couple of months, you may be reaping the rewards.
As the great thinker C.S. Lewis said, “You’re never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
